First Quarter Moon in Leo--April 24, 2007

Typically a card of childhood memories, this card brings to my mind the issue of what children are exposed to, and what they learn from media and entertainment in particular. A puppet show is seemingly wholesome fun, but what effect does the slapstick violence have on the audience? TV is the worst curse of all--hypotizing children and adults alike, distracting them from the real world and eating up time that could be better spent. The content is not ALL bad, but the fact that the scene changes every four to six seconds trains children to be unable to concentrate, or to be satisfied with anything for very long. I have many childhood memories of TV shows, but the best memories of all are from real life.
Give your children experiences they'll remember.

Full Moon Cycle of Scorpio--April 20 to May 20, 2007

The first thing that struck me about this card is how the circles of stars and moon almost create a lemniscate, with the Empress at its heart. Yes, She is eternal and Her Power is everlasting. The Father gives the spark of life, but the Mother makes it possible--brings it into being, makes it grow and thrive.
The dove flies free and pure, in stark contrast to the one in the Three of Swords. The Empress manifests a cooperative and peace-loving power--Power With--as opposed to the patriarchal Power Over. She understands, for example, that good nutrition for her means good nutrition for her unborn child(ren). Caring for herself is a vital part of her ability to care for others. Her constantly renewing cycles are the driving force of all life.

New Moon in Aries--April 17, 2007

Equal, but different. God didn't make Eve from Adam's foot bone, to be under him; but from his rib, to be by his side. This card represents a bond of equal partners that come together to create something new and (hopefully) permanent. They share and build on their strengths and support each other in their weaknesses.

Last Quarter Moon in Capricorn--April 10, 2007

Beware of temptresses and "too good to be true" offers! I can just imagine the strife it would have cause if Lancelot had chosen one of the queens over the others. As it is, we remember him for following his conscience.
Also: bad associations spoil useful habits.

Full Moon in Libra--April 2, 2007

Palm Sunday, Passover, Easter. Fertility, birth, rebirth. The Maiden setting out on the path to Motherhood. (Interesting that her belly--her "cup"--is exposed. But where is her belly button?) Bloom of youth. Girlish figure (i.e. pre-gravity). Growing up and out. Widening world. Anticipation.
